WHAT ARE SOME CREATIVE WAYS I CAN GIVE?
Deciding how much to give is a choice made between God, you, and your family. God gives us all we have, and it all ultimately belongs to Him, yet God entrusts each of us to be a wise steward of His resources. Knowing this, prayerfully consider what God would have you give. The following list may generate some creative ideas for giving:
GIFTS IN KIND / APPRECIABLE ASSETS:
This includes transferring ownership of stocks, bonds, real estate, automobiles, etc. Tax codes are generous towards this form of giving.
Interest income, payments from rental properties, or monies from other income-producing assets provide sources of increased giving.
SALE OF ASSETS:
Sales of major assets such as a house, car, land, or business provide sources of increased giving.
INCOME RAISES / BONUSES/TAX REFUNDS:
Donating raises, bonuses, and tax refunds are also avenues to increased giving.
FREEDOM FROM DEBT:
As you fulfill debt obligations, the increased savings may become available for increased giving.
UNIQUE SKILLS INCOME / SPECIAL SALES:
You may have a marketable skill or hobby by which you earn extra profit from which you can give. Another idea would be to hold a garage sale and donate the proceeds to the “Growing Together” vision.
GIVING UP SOME LUXURIES:
Lifestyle adjustments can free up extra money to give toward Growing Together. For example, cancel a magazine subscription, scale back on eating out, coffee or entertainment.
Perhaps your commitment would include any unexpected blessings over the next three years. This could be an unexpected rebate or reimbursement, a gift from someone else, an insurance settlement or even an inheritance. The idea is that whatever God blesses you with unexpectedly, you commit to give fully back to Him!
